A few months ago a friend asked me why I started my business- I responded back it was always my dream. “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” Walt Disney. I believe timing is everything, with good timing- dreams can happen! Since I can remember, I have worked in retail. In high school, college and after- so why would I not follow my dreams? I am very thankful I have the opportunity to follow my dreams, as I know it is a privilege to do this.
I will not say this is "a walk in the park" per say. But I love it; I love waking up in the morning. I love my morning ritual. What is your morning ritual? I grab a cup of hot water with lemon and journal.
Journaling why it is so important? 10 minutes a day is all you need. I grab a notebook or hardbound journal and start free-form writing. These are for my eyes only. Sometimes there are pictures, ideas, and quotes. Most of the time our thoughts seem to have a life of their own. They bounce around uncontrollably in our heads and operate on their own schedule, coming and going, as they want. Unexpressed thoughts can be the worst. When you don't get them out somehow, it's like keeping a secret ready to burst- whatever is in there now will stay in there. Taking time to get thoughts out of your head and onto paper can free your mind for other things. If it's important stuff, you've written it down and now you can move on. If you don't need to remember it, you can throw it away. The simple act of writing down your thoughts gives you the freedom to take your own mind back. Next I meditate for 10-20 minutes so I can start my day refreshed. (I will go into meditation more in my next blog) I like to try and get 30 minutes of exercise in during the day- it does not always happen in the morning. (It happens at some point even if it is walking the dog and to clear my mind)
Now I'm ready to conquer my day!
